Mavri Skala Mageria Resort Villas

Located on Lesvos Island, Greece the project set out to combine 35 dispersed, separated lots into a cohesive project. The design evolved from the desire to retain the unique and rich character of the region and minimize the impact on the cascading olive grove terraces. The steep slope and agricultural stone terraces allowed imbedding the villas into the hill, hiding them from view. Multiple villa types were developed in response to unique site conditions and topography each villa faces the Aegean Sea achieving privacy and minimal interference to the surrounding environment.

4 lots were chosen for permit submission with varying slopes and conditions. Sited on a moderate slope, lot 5 evolved as a new villa type including 2 villas of 100 sm each on a 4000 sm lot. Lot 14 had a steeper slope and terrace units were designed.

The terraces offer separation by level and directional view, each villa looks out  on to a different view of the Aegean. A typical site of approximately 4,000 sm included 3 villas of 100 sm each with 2 master suites and living area, infinity pool, parking and terrace garden. Local stone was selected to enhance the richness of the terrace villas as well as blend into the natural landscape.
